The Racism and Racial Experiences (RARE) Workgroup investigates the contribution of racism to determining lifestyles and life chances in the United States and abroad. We interrogate sociological theory and popular perspectives that explain what race means and describe why racism endures as a structure and process. The RARE Workgroup is publication-production-oriented, writing in small teams and as a collective. We will meet virtually on Wednesdays from 9:30am-11am by Zoom approximately every other week during the 2024-25 academic year. See the Calendar for specific details.
