The Racism and Racial Experiences (RARE) Workgroup investigates the contribution of racism to determining lifestyles and life chances in the United States and abroad. We interrogate sociological theory and popular perspectives that explain what race means and describe why racism endures as a structure and process. The RARE Workgroup is publication-production-oriented, writing in small teams and as a collective. We will meet virtually on Wednesdays from 9am-11am by Zoom every other week during the 2023-24 academic year. See the Calendar for details. All are welcome to visit with us and/or join the workgroup.
